Job Opportunity: 3D & VFX Multimedia Artists & Production Assistant, Berlin

The Zeiss-Grossplanetarium in Berlin is seeking for help with a reopening show and is currently hiring four positions: 3D Multimedia Artist, 3D / VFX Multimedia Artist, Realtime Multimedia Artist and Production Assistant.

The Zeiss Planetarium is closed since April 2014 due to extensive reconstruction work. In addition to a new, digital media technology and various structural projects, a new conceptual orientation is also a part of the overall modernization plan. When it reopens in summer 2016, the Zeiss Großplanetarium will be one of the most modern scientific theatres in Europe.

3D Multimedia Artist: Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Media Production or similar spheres;
  • Confirmed experience in the field of fulldome production;
  • Extensive knowledge of modern fulldome software and 3D-creating systems;
  • Profound knowledge of astronomy and basic science;
  • Communication skills and the knowledge of the English language;
  • To develop fulldome content with its further rendering, editing and synchronizing;
  • To cooperate with scientific divisions for the corresponding material creating;
  • To collaborate with Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte Planetarium and the Archenhold-Sternwarte Planetarium.

VFX Multimedia Artist: Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Media Production or similar field;
  • Confirmed experience in intermedia visualisation;
  • Extensive knowledge of modern 3D animation, rendering and compositing;
  • Profound knowledge of astronomy and the English language;
  • To develop fulldome content with its further rendering, editing and synchronizing;
  • To cooperate with scientific divisions for the corresponding material creating;
  • To collaborate with Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte and Archenhold-Sternwarte.

Realtime Multimedia Artist: Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Production, Media Informatics or similar field;
  • Confirmed experience in the field of fulldome production or game development;
  • Experience with production software in the field of realtime and intermedia visualization;
  • Profound knowledge of astronomy and the English language;
  • To develop fulldome content and digital systems for planetaria in the necessary media formats;
  • To produce and implement interactive software;
  • To cooperate with scientific divisions for the corresponding material creating;
  • To collaborate with the Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte and Archenhold-Sternwarte Planetariums.

Production Assistant: Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Degree in Commerce or any corresponding experience in the field of Production;
  • Ability to work either independently or in a team;
  • Good knowledge of the English language;
  • Great communicative skills to deal with clients and business partners;
  • To organize meetings, workshops, conferences and other events;
  • To administer the inner work of the planetarium and its staff.
