Record Breaking Fulldome Festival Brno 2018
A total of 169 registered visitors saw 37 new shows for digital planetariums from European, Asian and American producers. The farthest away visitors came from Chile and Japan, the longest show lasted 50 minutes and the shortest clip was just 95 seconds long. The prizes, from professional public, the international jury and the director of the Brno Observatory and Planetarium, were awarded to four shows.
There were 37 shows from 20 countries (Poland, Belarus, Japan, USA, France, Germany, Ukraine, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Canada, China, Portugal, England, Spain, Mexico and Czech Republic). If you wanted to see all of them, you would have to get ready for 14 hours of continuous projection! The total data stored on Brno digital planetarium data storage reached 30 terabyte.
The special guests of the Fulldome Festival Brno 2018 included, for example, Ryan Wyatt from the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, Kai IpLau Patrick from the Hong Kong Space Museum, Yuka Sato from the Japanese company GOTO, Alejandro Bascuñán from Planetario de la Universidad de Santiago de Chile and Dan Neafus, the founder of the company IMERSA. And there were 169 registered visitors from all the continents, except for Antarctica (120 in 2017, 152 in 2016).
