The Porto Planetarium – Ciência Viva Center is an out of the ordinary science center. It’s owned by the University of Porto, and managed by the largest portuguese astronomy research unit – the Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (institute for astrophysics and space sciences – IA). The Porto Planetarium produces its own pedagogically adequate contents, which include fulldome planetarium shows, hands-on activities and exhibition modules, with scientific accuracy guaranteed by IA. The Porto Planetarium hosts around 30 thousand visitors annually.
