The water in the stream moves at great speed, something that could pose a problem for its microscopic inhabitants.

However, all of them have been able to adapt to the flow and have developed strategies to avoid being swept away. Some are able to anchor themselves to rocks or submerged plants, while others seek out quieter corners. Whatever their strategy, together they are able to keep these waters clean and suitable for many other larger species.
