Job Opportunity: Technical Manager, Planetarium Berlin

We are hiring the departement head for the technical departement ("technical manager") at Planetarium Berlin Foundation (Stiftung Planetarium Berlin), Germany.

The Stiftung Planetarium Berlin unites Berlin’s public observatories and planetariums under one administrative roof. The foundation includes three locations: the Zeiss-Großplanetarium in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg, the Archenhold-Sternwarte in Berlin-Treptow and the Planetarium am Insulaner with Wilhelm-Foerster Observatory in Berlin-Schöneberg. Also, the foundation has a small inflatable dome.

The Zeiss-Großplanetarium hosts Germany's largest planetarium dome with 23 meters, a Digistar 6 digital system, Powerdome, Uniview and a Zeiss Universarium star projector. The Planetarium am Insulaner has a 20-meter dome with the same digital systems but a Zeiss Mark Vb star projector from 1965. The Archenhold Observatory and the Wilhelm-Foerster Observatory both host a variety of high-quality telescopes, Archenhold even has the world's longest lens-based telescope on the roof. With these facilities, Stiftung Planetarium Berlin is an essential player in the educational and cultural sector of Germany’s capital city. In all three places, we offer a variety of programmes from astronomy to live music and scientific talks.

At least a Master's degree in engineering or a related field is required; i.e. energy management or building services engineering, technical facility management, computer science. Also, this job requires knowledge of German and English (spoken and in writing) and - as it is a full-time job - the willingness to relocate to Berlin.
