The Saint Petersburg Planetarium is the oldest planetarium in St.Petersburg and one of the biggest in Russia.

Description

Saint Petersburg Planetarium is the oldest planetarium in our city and one of the biggest planetariums in Russia. This center of science and learning engages everyone in the world of knowledge opened on the 4th of November 1959.

The main dome, with a diameter of 23.5 meters and height of 14.5 meters, covers the Star hall of the Planetarium and is hidden inside the building with all the other halls and service facilities located around it on various floors. From the outside of the Planetarium one can see a small dome which houses an observatory.

Overall there are seven halls in the Planetarium where one can attend public science lectures on astronomy, astronautics, physics, geography, nature studies, ecology and regional studies.

All the programs and lectures in Saint Petersburg Planetarium are unique and made by the Planetarium itself, including fulldome content.
