The Melbourne Planetarium is excited to announce the return of the Dome Under Film Festival. The festival will take place at the Melbourne Planetarium, February 3-4, 2024.

The two-day film festival will be a celebration of the fulldome film format and it will promote the medium to a wider audience. The festival is independent and open to contributions from all around the world.

Filmmakers, producers and distributors may apply to present full-length feature shows or short films (including student works).

All films entered into the festival must have been completed on or after 1 January 2022.  All films will be curated and nominated for screening at the festival. 

A Pre-selection Committee will determine which films will be screened at the festival and included in the Festival Competition.  An independent Festival Jury will then award the following prizes: 

• Best Astronomy Film
• Best Children’s Film
• Best Narrative Film
• Best Experimental Film
• Best Short Film
