California Academy of Sciences
The oldest scientific institution in the West, the California Academy of Sciences has reinvented itself in a new building in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park: the largest green building in the world open to the public—and the only one to house a research institute, aquarium, natural history museum, and planetarium.
The Morrison Planetarium opened in 1952, and its legacy continues into the 21st Century with a flexible all-digital system.
The Academy’s Visualization Studio produces fulldome content by tapping into the remarkable resources of the Bay Area: the collective experience of the studio’s staff in the visual effects industry totals more than 120 years, including work at Industrial Light & Magic, Pixar, and Lucasfilm Animation.
